Akpabio task ECOWAS parliament on peace, prosperity in West Africa

The President of the Nigerian Senate, Mr. Godwill Akpabio has tasked the Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to exchange ideas on ways to achieve peace and prosperity in West African region.

Akpabio spoke while hosting to a dinner in Abuja on Thursday the newly inaugurated members of the Sixth Legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament.

The Senate President told the Parliamentarians that there were a lot of expectations from them because the region was going through a very challenging time.

Akpabio assured them that Nigerian Parliament would give them necessary support as they embarked on diplomatic shuttles across the region particularly to countries that are yet to become fully democratic.

He said: “I want to express my gratitude to you for finding time to grace this occasion. I want to congratulate all of you for your election and selection into the ECOWAS Parliament just inaugurated today(Thursday).”
