15 Infantry generals retire from Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army (NA) on Saturday formally pulled out 15 retired generals from the Artillery Corps during a ceremony at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA) in Kachia, Kaduna State. The retirees included 11 Major Generals and 4 Brigadier Generals.

During the pulling-out procession, Maj Gen James Myam (rtd) spoke on behalf of the retired officers, reflecting on their lengthy military service and expressing thanks and fulfillment. He acknowledged God’s protection during their years of work and credited divine assistance for their accomplishment. Along with thanking President Bola Tinubu for the chance to serve, he also wished Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, ongoing strength and wisdom in his leadership of the Army.

Maj Gen Myam reflected on the start of their military careers, when they arrived as Officer Cadets at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna. While being vigilant and security concerned, he advised the remaining police to uphold their allegiance to the Constitution and the democratically elected government.

The retiring general also thanked their mentors, teachers, friends, spouses, and families for their assistance during their careers. Maj Gen Alwali Kazir (rtd), a former Chief of Army Staff, was among the senior retired and active military officers that attended the occasion.
