2023: APC postpones sale of nomination forms, sends six directors on compulsory leave

Sales of nomination and expression of interests forms for the 2023 general elections by the All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to commence on Saturday as scheduled.

According to the schedule of activities adopted by the party after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Wednesday, the sales of forms was meant to run from Saturday, April 23 to Friday, May 6.

The party, however, said it would not be able to start selling forms as scheduled, with a later date set to be determined by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on Monday.

According to The Nation, the contractor handling the printing of the forms failed to deliver them to the Director of Organisation at the party secretariat thereby causing the delay.

“The postponement became necessary following the inability of the contractor to deliver the forms. As we speak now (Friday evening), the printer is yet to deliver the forms.

“We hope the exercise will commence next week as the contractor is expected to deliver by the weekend,” The Nation quoted a party source as saying.

The party leadership also sent six directors at the national headquarters on compulsory leave.

National Secretary, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, in an April 21, 2022 letter, directed the affected persons to hand over the affairs of their departments to the most senior person.

The decision followed the recommendation of the Transition Committee set up by Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led NWC as part of the efforts to re-organise the party’s National Secretariat.

Adamu had dropped hint of the impending reorganisation when he received his certificate of returns from the Electoral Committee after the March 26 National Convention of the party.
