2023: Asiwaju is our anthem in Oyo State, Oyo Deputy Governor says at Afenifere meeting with Tinubu

Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal on Sunday in Akure said All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is their anthem in a tacit endorsement of the APC candidate.

Lawal, while speaking at the Afenifere meeting held with Asiwaju Tinubu in the Ondo State capital, said he was representing his boss, Governor Seyi Makinde, adding that Tinubu’s presidential bid is a collective aspiration of many Nigerians and especially South West people who have confidence in his ability to lead a prosperous Nigeria.

The surprise attendance of the deputy governor confirmed what has been said to be endorsement of Tinubu by Governor Makinde who has abandoned the presidential candidate of his party, Atiku Abubakar.

Governor Makind is one of the pro Governor Nyesom Wike in the PDP in the war of attrition with Atiku.

Makinde’s support for Tinubu came as the substantive leader of Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-cultural and political organisation, Pa Reuben Fasonranti on Sunday, blessed the APC presidential candidate’s quest for the presidency.

The Yoruba leader’s blessing, with his hands placed on Tinubu’s head appears to have repudiated the earlier stance of another Afenifere chieftain, Ayo Adebanjo who has pitched his tent with the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Lawal said: “Oyo is for Asiwaju and Asiwaju is for Oyo.”
