By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

Wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, on Tuesday led over 10,000 women in solidarity walks to canvass and show support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shittema

The first lady and the over 10,000 Akoni Obinrin (brave women) converged at the Government House in Oke-Fia and walked down to Ola-Iya junction, Fagbewesa, and later thronged the popular Freedom Park in Osogbo.

Addressing the crowd, Mrs. Oyetola said the solidarity walk was done to let the people of Osun know their candidate and to woo them to vote for him and his running mate come the 2023 general elections.

Oyetola who promised to deliver not less than one million votes for the APC presidential candidate stressed that a group of 138 women tagged ‘Akoni Obinrin’ have been appointed as coordinators across the state to mobilise women in their host communities to canvass and win vote for Tinubu/Shettima comes 2023 elections.

She stated further that ‘Akoni Obinrin’ will be at all the polling units on election day to monitor their votes so that over voting that occurred in the last governorship election in the state will not repeat itself in the coming elections.

She urged the women to mobilise more people for their candidate adding that Tinubu performed excellently well during his tenure as the governor of Lagos State.

“We have seen what he did within and outside the country most especially when he was the governor of Lagos state, he is a type of man that accommodate everybody without tribal sentiment. With the good job he has done in Lagos state, we believed he will replicate it in the entire country.

“We have 138 coordinators of ‘Akoni Obinrin’ across the state, under these coordinators, we have representatives of the group at every unit, ward and local government levels.

“They will mobilise support and votes for Asiwaju, we have promised to deliver minimum of 1 million votes in 2023 for APC.

“From the experience of over voting we had in 2022 governorship election, we will ensure we monitor our vote, we will go to polling units to cast our votes, stay at the polling units to prevent rigging of any kind like it happened few months ago, we are ready to monitor the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS). We will do all what it takes to prevent preloaded BVAS. We are ready to monitor our votes,” Oyetola stated.

Commissioner for Information and Civil Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode said the ‘Akoni Obinrin’ will do everything possible to deliver votes for Tinubu.

She said Tinubu has the political ingredients and will that the nation needs and urged people to work for his victory.
