2023 Polls: Tinubu defying all odds, By Kola Amzat
Since the turn of 4th Republic in 1999, no presidential candidate has been so harassed, attacked and subjected to all forms of character assassination by members of opposition parties as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate for 2023 general elections.
But, it seems the Iconic politician and former Lagos state governor has sufficiently imbibed in absolute terms, the contents of this proverbial submission-“He who desires to drink the honey from a rock must bother less at the bluntness of an Axe”.
Admirably, Tinubu has remained absolutely undaunted and unconcerned to loads of falsehoods, fabrication of lies and insults being thrown at his personality, as well as the presidential project, preferring to remain very focus, with the eyes only on the ball-the ultimate crown. He has equally de-emphasized and downplay all barriers he’s encountered so far and still encountering in his quest to lead the country.
It’s instructive to note that Tinubu might have navigated and broken through, the mountains of barriers placed on his path towards the manifestation of presidency project.
Nigerians recall that on account of tempestuous, acrimonious and rancorous APC presidential primary, the party was largely expected to disintegrate. Indeed, the party was billed for extinction. But, to the consternation of all and sundry, Tinubu immediately reached out to most of the fellow contestants, as well as powerful power blocs behind them for reconciliation.
He quickly assumed the post of Army General, marshalling them all and other interested parties like a troop preparing for war. As I put up this write up, APC remains the most united party in the country, with their 22 governors intact and solidly behind the presidential candidate and with more governors from opposition parties expected to join very shortly before the general elections.
The rank of their national assembly, as well as state assemblies members continue to swell on weekly basis. There are other powerful groups with visible and proven electoral values across the federation that have defected to the party in their several thousands.

With this development, the wailers have been left befuddled, more confused and disoriented.
The political foes and adversaries have also sold a dummy to Nigerians that the APC candidate would not be able to campaign in the South- East geo-political zone, how much more attracting the needed votes of the people of the region. However, consequent upon his political deftness, strategy and diplomacy, Tinubu has not only made strong in-roads into the region, he’s now firmly amongst the 2 candidates to beat in the zone.
When the opposition parties recognized that they’ve failed to hoodwink Nigerians with the series of falsehood, they ventured into the state of his health. They made spirited efforts to convince the citizenry that Tinubu health remains questionable and that, he’s not fit to lead Nigeria with that state of health.
But, Nigerians across the land have been watching for themselves Tinubu strongly on his feet, always enthusiastically leading the APC presidential campaign team all over the country, often stays at campaign podium for hours making political presentations meant at canvassing for citizenry votes, singing, dancing and involving in other energy sapping initiatives ordinarily meant for the people of younger age bracket.
From the available records of parties’ campaigns, none of the presidential candidates of opposition parties has covered 50% of locations Tinubu and his team have been able to cover since INEC signaled for the commencement of campaign exercise.
As this write-up is being packaged, he’s in Chatham House, London with presidential campaign team selling and marketing his manifestoes to the international community, as well as engaging Nigerians over there, on what Nigeria nation in specific terms, under his watch would look like with respect to economic and political developments, infrastructural and ICT initiatives, his vision for education, employment, power, rail and road infrastructures etc. This development has further turned the wailers into object of ridicule, derision, embarrassment and scorn in the eyes of Nigerian public.
In their desperation, they’ve also made several attempts to confuse Nigerians that Tinubu didn’t graduate from Chicago University even when they’ve been confronted with damning evidence of his Transcript with input of relevant grades at all levels, by that University Authority that Tinubu indeed was not only one of their students, he was one of those shining stars during his time in their University.
They’ve not stop at that, they are presently across the length and breadth of the nation with their characteristic falsehood and concocted lies that Tinubu was a drug dealer and on account of this, he doesn’t deserve to be elected as president. As far as they’re concerned, sufficient evidence rolled out by the FBI exonerating the APC presidential candidate in its entirety, doesn’t make any meaning and sense to them.
Opposition parties particularly, PDP have desperately made all the aforementioned attempts to halt Tinubu presidency for obvious reasons. They’re obviously wary of his presidency. They know he’s a thinker and doer. They’re aware that Nigeria would take a rebound under his watch. They’re aware there would be significant turn-around in the economy, education, medical, power generation & distribution, rail & road, as well as air infrastructures with Tinubu in control.
They’re aware there would be a new dimension in the manufacturing, oil & gas and agricultural sector. They’re in the know that there would be a deliberate and strategic policy to halt the scourge of unemployment. Of course, PDP are aware that they won’t have another era of looting and squandering of the nation resources.
It’s an auspicious time for Nigeria to fulfill her potentials. It’s time for those diverse natural endowments buried in all the nooks & crannies of our land to be unearthed and turn into wealth for the optimum benefits for generality of Nigerians. It’s appropriate time for Nigerians home and abroad to live the glorious life that provident has prepared for them. But, we all need to commit and entrust the nation into the hands of one capable of making all these possible.
Asiwaju Tinubu has the innate capacity to bring this dream to reality. He has submitted severally in different fora that he indeed knows the road to prosperity and Nigeria should do the needful by following him. Why should we doubt him? Why must we continue to move in cycle with trial by error leadership?
Lagos presents a classic example of what he’s capable of doing. If he could achieve those innumerable wonders and awesome spectacle in Lagos, we could just imagine miracles that could cause across the nation with the humongous resources at the centre!
Tinubu has the aura of success. He’s imbued with incredible organizational and coordinating ability. He has the Midas touch. I’m particularly fascinated with his eagle eyes for talents. And, he would obviously fish out the best of Nigerians anywhere they’re for the purpose of building, resetting, repositioning as well as reconstructing the wonderful nation
