2023: Why Lagos APC should cede West Senatorial ticket to us- Badagry Division

A group, Badagry Division Concerned Indigenes (BDCI), has appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC), to cede the Lagos West Senatorial District ticket to Badagry Division.

The group claimed that ceding the ticket to the division would serve as reward for its loyalty to the party.

BDCI made the appeal at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday in Badagry with politicians, representatives from various quarters and other relevant political bigwigs from the division.

At the meeting, WesternPost learnt that the group also decried alleged marginalisation of the area in terms of dividends of democracy.

The group expressed its dissatisfaction in a statement signed by its Chairman, Adekunle Ojoye.

Badagry indiegenes alleged that the division has not enjoyed fair political representations in government since 1999.

Making specific demands, the group urged the ruling APC to cede the Lagos West Senatorial seat to the Badagry division as a mark of appreciation, adding that the area deserves it by merit owing to its sustained loyalty to the party.

“The truth of the matter is that our division has not been enjoying fair political representations under the APC administration since 1999,” they said.

According to them, Lagos West has always been represented by Ikeja Division, leaving the Badagry division in political limbo.

The group lamented that the last opportunity they had in 2019 was truncated with the return of the incumbent senator representing the axis from Alimosho, Ikeja division after his failed attempt to contest in Ogun State.

“Badagry division had been fair to the government of Lagos State and APC as a party, but all our requests from this government have been denied. We appeal for Lagos APC to consider Lagos West seat for the Badagry division,” the group added.

WesternPost had reported that four aspirants are jostling for the Lagos West APC ticket.

They are; former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, former Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, former Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Idiat Adebule and Senior Special Assistant on SDGs To President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaja Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
