By Tosin Omojola –

Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, the D’Tigers, defeated Tunisia on Friday afternoon to continue their impressive run in the 2025 Afrobasket, ongoing in Luanda, Angola.

The win means Nigeria has progressed to the quarter-final stage, even with a game against Cameroon still to play.

Fresh from their opening-day victory over Madagascar, the Nigerians put up a dominant performance against the defending champions, winning the Group B tie 87-66.

The Nigerians completely overwhelmed the North Africans right from the first quarter, which they claimed 29-16.

They maintained control in the second and third quarters, winning 19-17 and 20-14 respectively.

The Tunisians, however, put up a stronger fight in the final quarter, stretching the D’Tigers to the limit. Their efforts, though, could only earn them a 19-19 draw in the quarter, sealing the game 87-66 in favour of Nigeria.

Up next for the D’Tigers is their final Group B clash against Cameroon on Sunday.
