Nigeria’s basketball team, D’Tigers, will play their third group game later this evening, aiming for their third win.

Group leaders Cape Verde are the next hurdle for the Nigerians after previously beating hosts Libya and Uganda in the first and second matches, respectively.

On Saturday night, the Nigerian side saw off Uganda 87-67 to secure their second win in Group B in the second window of the 2025 AfroBasket qualifying tournament in Tripoli, Libya.

The Nigerian team had opened their campaign with a 75-70 win against hosts Libya on Friday.

Despite trailing in the first, second, and third quarters, D’Tigers still emerged winners.

The win took D’Tigers to second place behind leaders Cape Verde ahead of Sunday’s last group game.

In Saturday’s duel, the Ugandans took the first quarter 16-12 and also finished ahead in the second quarter, 34-28.

In the third quarter, Uganda emerged tops again, this time by 59 points to 55.

But in the fourth quarter, D’Tigers mounted a dominant display to eventually overcome their opponent.
