2025 LG Polls: No chairman must reside outside council jurisdiction – Ojelabi

The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has said no council Chairman must reside outside his or her local government area, restating that their administration would be closely monitored by the party.
Ojelabi made this known on Tuesday at the Stakeholders’ Special Engagement with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in State House, Marina, Lagos.
He said the candidates have the responsibility of balancing the affairs of their councils with the state and federal governments policies so that the benefits of democracy would tricky down.
Ojelabi said the candidates if elected must key into the policy agenda of the state and federal governments.
Speaking on the aftermath of the primaries, Ojelabi said the reports from the reconciliation committee reaching him were favourable, appreciating the party leadership for their roles in reconciling the aggrieved aspirants ahead of the election.

” This programme is to interface with the candidates and the stakeholders on the election. We want to officially solicit for the support of the Community Development Committees (CDC), Market men and Women, Youths ahead of the Council elections on July 12, 2025″, said Ojelabi.
It would be recalled that on May 10 the party held its Chairmanship primaries at the party’s secretariat in Ogba-Ikeja where the candidates emerged.

Over 300 aspirants participated in both the chairmanship and Councillorship primaries.
The outcome of the primaries generated controversy across the state but the party set up a reconciliation committee to mediate the aggrieved.
