Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, on Sunday, the Vice President will join world leaders, top business executives, and representatives of development partners at the meeting to discuss the state of the global economy and explore ways to improve its condition.
While in Davos, the Vice President will hold bilateral meetings with other leaders and participate in workshops and forums scheduled for the annual gathering.

Among the key events is a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets”, organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with the World Economic Forum.
The workshop, aimed at boosting capital flows into Africa’s frontier markets and scaling solutions for a prosperous and resilient continent, will take place at the Congress Centre in Jakobshorn.
The Vice President will also witness the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, a partnership initiative with the AfDB. The roadmap seeks to foster collaboration between public and private sector leaders to mobilize investments in Africa’s frontier markets.
Senator Shettima is also set to attend a dinner for heads of state, government officials, and representatives of international organizations, alongside the 2025 Crystal Awardees, the International Business Council, and Strategic Partners. The dinner will be held at Kurpark Village, Eiger.
In a significant role, the Vice President will co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at the Pischa Congress Centre.
This session will facilitate discussions on advancing digital trade and the private sector’s role in implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Trade Protocol, adopted by the African Union in January 2024.
He will also serve as a panelist at a stakeholder dialogue titled “Global Risks 2025”, which will focus on the geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges outlined in the Global Risks Report. This event will be held at the Aspen 2 Congress Centre in Davos.
The Vice President is accompanied by key government officials, including the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi.
He is expected to return to Abuja at the conclusion of his engagements in Davos.
