2027: ADC meets Bauchi governor, seeks broad alliance

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has intensified efforts to woo Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, into its fold.
A delegation of ADC leaders, led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, visited the governor at the Bauchi State Government House on Tuesday for high-level talks.
“We are here in Bauchi State today at the instance of our National Chairman, Senator David Mark,” Lawal said.
According to him, the visit was part of broader consultations aimed at forging a united front ahead of the 2027 polls.

“Senator Mark sent us here because he believes that the coming political contest in 2027 can only succeed if well-meaning Nigerians across different divides come together to chart a new course for the country,” he said.
Lawal warned of dire consequences if the current administration remains in power beyond 2027, stressing the need for unity among opposition forces.
The meeting was reportedly centred on possible political realignments and the future direction of Governor Mohammed and his supporters ahead of the elections.
The development comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has seen factions emerge within the party.
