2027 election will be referendum on Tinubu’s performance, says Adebayo

….faults Tinubu’s economic policies
The Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has declared that the 2027 general election would serve as a referendum on hardship, insecurity and economic decline under the administration of President Bola Tinubu-.
Speaking during a recent interview on national issues, Adebayo said Nigerians were experiencing unprecedented suffering due to what he described as poor governance, rising inflation and ineffective economic policies introduced by the current administration.
According to him, the Tinubu government would have to defend its record before Nigerians in 2027 rather than depend on political influence, alliances or campaign rhetoric to secure victory at the polls.
“You cannot defeat President Tinubu by merely rousing anger. You have to raise issues because he is in charge of government today and, on objective analysis, he is not delivering,” Adebayo said during the interview.
The SDP flagbearer argued that the rising cost of living had pushed millions of Nigerians into hardship despite their efforts to earn a living and support their families amid worsening economic conditions.
He maintained that increasing inflation, persistent insecurity and growing unemployment had weakened public confidence in the government, adding that ordinary citizens were bearing the consequences of policies that had failed to improve productivity and economic growth.
Adebayo also criticised the administration’s handling of the electricity sector, noting that the country’s power supply crisis remained unresolved despite promises made by the ruling party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Expressing confidence in the chances of the SDP in the next election cycle, Adebayo said Nigerians were already searching for a credible alternative that would prioritise governance, economic recovery and the welfare of citizens.
