2027 elections: Tinubu far ahead of any coalition, says Senator Husain

Former Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Mudashiru Husain, has declared that no coalition, regardless of its size or prominence, can unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Husain, while responding to ongoing efforts by prominent opposition figures to form a united front against the President, emphasized that what binds these opposition figures is not a shared vision, unity, or principles, but personal ambition and old grudges.
According to him, “We are witnessing familiar faces—former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and Babachir Lawal—attempting to come together under a single political umbrella. Their goal is simple: to unseat a man whose leadership has already begun reshaping Nigeria’s socio-economic path.
“But let’s be honest. What binds these individuals? Not vision. Not unity. Not even shared principles. What they have in common is ambition—often personal—and, in many cases, driven by old grudges. These are not the foundations of a credible alternative.
“I understand the desperation within the opposition ranks. Peter Obi’s insistence on running solely under the Labour Party already shows that unity is elusive. I respect Babachir Lawal and others for their optimism, but I must say plainly: no amount of strategy can paper over a lack of genuine purpose. They’re not building a movement—they’re just forming a reaction.”
The former lawmaker, who also represented the Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency in Lagos State, said President Tinubu’s political instincts, strategic depth, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s future place him ahead of any emerging coalition.
While highlighting the President’s achievements in less than two years, Husain said that under Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria has seen economic rebalancing and increased national cohesion.
“As I look ahead to 2027, I see a stronger, more unified Nigeria under President Tinubu’s leadership. The noise will rise, but it won’t shake the foundation we’ve built. Our focus remains steady, our values clear. This is not just about politics. It’s about legacy, continuity, and the kind of leadership Nigeria needs now more than ever.”
