2027: Nigerians will choose results over noise, says APC chair

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that Nigerians will prioritise performance over rhetoric in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Progressive Governors’ Forum–Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Yilwatda said voters would judge the ruling party by visible outcomes rather than political criticism.
“In 2027, Nigerians will not vote noise. Rather, they will vote the results they will see on the streets and across the country,” he stated.
Yilwatda dismissed opposition efforts to capitalise on the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu, accusing rival parties of hoping that temporary challenges arising from the reforms would weaken the APC.
“The opposition always hope that our difficult reforms will weaken us. They are waiting for temporary discomfort. They refuse to acknowledge the long-term benefits to this country,” he said, adding that critics “whisper confusion where we speak in clarity.”
The APC chairman said the party had chosen reform over rhetoric and was committed to restructuring the economy rather than recycling past failures. He maintained that history rewards conviction, not hesitation.
Highlighting key infrastructure projects, Yilwatda cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, the Badagry-Sokoto Road with over 300 proposed dams for irrigation, the Red Line rail project, and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, which he described as one of the largest infrastructure undertakings in the country.
However, he acknowledged gaps in public communication, noting that many government achievements remain underreported.
