The motion was seconded by former Remo North LG Chairman, Dapo Odunsi.Council chairmen in the zone — Hon. Muyiwa Sodade (Remo North) and Hon. Jamiu Asimi (Ikenne) — also backed the call, saying grassroots support for the governor’s senatorial bid was strong across the district.

They noted that the endorsement was a demonstration of appreciation for Abiodun’s performance in office and urged him to respond positively to the appeal.

The formal endorsement was announced by Governor’s Advisory Council member, Chief Kola Ogunjobi, in the presence of top APC leaders, commissioners, advisers and other party stakeholders from the division.

Ogunjobi said the decision followed extensive deliberations and a review of the administration’s performance, citing achievements in infrastructure, education, security, housing, industry and social welfare.

He highlighted the construction of over 1,600 kilometres of roads, completion of the Gateway International Airport and policies that attracted significant manufacturing investments to the state.

Party officials from the three local government areas pledged full mobilisation and grassroots support should the governor declare his intention, expressing confidence that his candidacy would deliver greater dividends to Ogun East in 2027.
