2027: The North will reward Tinubu’s reforms with robust votes – Yakassai

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The National Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Dr Umar Tanko Yakassai, has expressed optimism that the northern region will repay President Bola Tinubu’s bold economic reforms with overwhelming votes in the 2027 general elections.
Yakassai said the North remains “morally bound” to stand by the President, commending Tinubu for demonstrating uncommon courage in confronting challenges that previous leaders failed to tackle.
He made the remarks in Akure on Friday during the inauguration of the TSG Ondo State chapter, where Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was decorated as the Grand Patron of the group.
“We in the North are morally bound to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid, just as we stood by President Buhari in 2015 and 2019. The President has shown courage in tackling challenges his predecessors avoided,” he said.
Yakassai described TSG as “the number one support group in Nigeria”, noting that it coordinated over 5,000 support groups during the 2023 elections.
Former Minister of State for Transportation and newly inaugurated Ondo State Director-General of TSG, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, pledged to build a strong and united structure that would promote President Tinubu’s achievements and restore the reward system in politics.
Also speaking, Mrs Jumoke Ajasin, daughter of the late Governor Michael Ajasin, commended Tinubu’s courage and urged the Yoruba nation to stand firmly behind his administration.
She described Aiyedatiwa’s inauguration as Grand Patron as a unifying moment for the APC in Ondo State.
