2027: What Tinubu’s endorsement by party leadership hierarchy at NEC meeting stand for, by Kola Amzat

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the who and who in APC leadership hierarchy converged in Abuja under the umbrella of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, ostensibly to deliberate on key issues bothering on governance and overall affairs of the party such as economic recovery, strategic governance decisions, internal party reconciliation and others.
Interestingly, the NEC meeting was the first since President Bola Tinubu government was inaugurated on May 29, 2025.
Except for the absence of the immediate past president, Muhammud Buhari and very few others, the attendance was very impressive and re- assuring.
Meanwhile, amongst key decisions taken by the stakeholders during the crucial meeting was the resolve to ratify zoning of the national chairmanship position to the North-west geopolitical zone of the country, where the current chairman, Dr. Umar Ghanduje hails.
However, the most significant decision of the party at the meeting was the vote of confidence passed on President Bola Tinubu, as well as national leadership.
The president responded and I quote “I am happy with your vote of confidence and I accept it. The vote is a challenge to do more; we will vigorously pursue our sovereignty in food security, investment and development. I am conscious of the fact that food prices are already coming down, especially as Ramadan begins. The sun is high, and the sky is bright outside. While the rest of the world unravels, we see growth in Nigeria. We are seeing improvements. I thank you governors”
He pledged to continue working assiduously with other arms of government to ensure the greater good for Nigerians and commended APC governors and executives for their continued and unwavering commitments. He further continued and I quote “I’m grateful to all Nigerians for the electoral successes recorded from one state to the other. Governors, you have embraced these changes, and I thank the leadership of our party. I also thank members of the National Assembly for expeditiously considering budget. We can only build the party on a progressive platform to deliver good service to Nigerians”
Applauding the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) for its performance, and I quote again “The Committee is doing a very good job; I am pleased with them. However, there are a few conflicts in
various states. Let’s set up committees to look into lingering problems in the states and appeal to these party leaders in various states to please be calm and be collaborative.”
However, the crux of this Write-up are justifications for the vote confidence passed on the president, and essentially, his endorsement for second term in office.
Which Company’s Board of Directors (BOD) wouldn’t cuddle its resourceful and visionary CEO that has ensured growth and prosperity for the company?
Which parent wouldn’t embrace their child who is positively projecting the name, image and brand of the family in University, through academic excellence?
This is exactly what APC as a party, as well as the top leadership hierarchy have done in passing vote of confidence on the president, as well as endorsing him for another term in office.
The president has indeed provides purposeful, commanding, assured and resourceful leadership for the entire country.
Since the turn of 4 th Republic in 1999, no president has provided clear sense of belonging for Nigerians in all six Geopolitical zones as Tinubu.
The complete integration into the mainstream of Nigeria politics of hitherto estranged South East zone is a testament to this, ceding to the
Igbos, first rated and juicy appointments, at ministerial level, federal agencies, and even, at federal ministries level.
Under his watch, it does appears that unity, togetherness and cordiality that has eluded Nigerians in decades is staging a big comeback.
Sovereignty of our dear nation is no longer in contention, as securing of the nation territorial integrity is no longer negotiable.
More importantly, the president has courted Nigerians into a new dimension of reforms, as encapsulated in his 7 Point Agenda, popularly christened RENEWED HOPE.
The president courageously drew curtains on the regime of fuel subsidies, as well as close the chapter of era of Multiple Foreign Exchange Systems, two hydra-headed challenges that had hitherto constituted a noose around the economic jugular of our nation and impeded our economic development and progress.
The reforms has signaled positive economic outlook for 2025, with the strengthening of Naira, coupled with consecutive quarters of foreign trade surpluses, as well as decreasing in fuel prices.
The stock market recently hits ₦67 trillion market capitalization mark, an unprecedented record in the nation annals, an indication of creating trillions in wealth, and a surge in foreign investments eloquently
demonstrating renewed trust and confidence in Nigerian economy.
The aggregate government revenue is more than doubled, increasing by over ₦9.1 trillion in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in year 2023.
The present administration have boldly engaged in major infrastructure projects all around the country. These include roads and bridges construction, huge investments in railways, power generation, as well as oil and gas developments. The audacious Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, as well as Sokoto-Badagry Highway projects signpost government spirited efforts in this direction. Oil production has significantly improved to about 1.81 million barrels/day, with formidable security architecture already put in place within Niger Delta deep ocean axis. Related to this inflow of Foreign
Direct Investments of over $500 million already signed and consummated.
Another milestone achievement of the present administration is reduction in REVENUE to DEBT SERVICE RATIO from 97% to 68% in the last 15 months.
The government has begun the implementation of ₦70,000 minimum wage, a remarkable development that has improved the well-being of Nigerians workers across the land.
There are plethora of incentives for farmers aimed at increasing food production, as well as huge investments on mechanized farming such as tractors and planters, for the same purpose.
Just within 2 years of this administration, about 240,000 jobs through Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises funding have been created. Consumer Credit Corporation has been established with over ₦200 billion take of grant to empower Nigerians to acquire essential products without the need for immediate cash payments, making life easier for millions of households around the country.
Students in tertiary institution are not left behind in government programs and plans, with the approval of over ₦95.6 billion to access in order to fund their individual educational aspirations. Another milestone achievement of Tinubu presidency is the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, an awesome initiative launched to power the transportation sector essentially to reduce costs. The president affirmed that this initiative has capacity to save over ₦2 trillion a month, being used to import PMS and AGO.
The audacious 2025 Appropriation Bill of ₦54.99 is also projected to reduce inflation from 34.6 to 15%, by significantly increasing food production, as well as promoting the local manufacturing of essential drugs and medical supplies. It’s instructive to note that, prices of staple foods have already been coming down, as projected.
So, why Bola Tinubu shouldn’t continue with his good work that have been attested to by all and sundry?
Today, who, in the nation political sphere has the leadership capacity, ingenuity, insight, courage, independent state of mind and country- wide knowledge to drive the affairs of this country as the president is vvpresently doing?
Quite a number of politicians just desire to ascend to leadership positions for selfish reasons and pecuniary interests, without been comprehensively grounded in requisite capacity to lead and drive a country as sensitive and diverse as Nigeria.
Had Nigerians not been privileged to experience the stewardship of those who are aspiring now, in their past assignments at topmost level? What did they achieve then, with so much resources at their disposal?
Let them go and sit down, as well as cultivating positive attitude and patriotism to support the present president to run his 8 years tenure, so that the nation could experience desired prosperity and genuine growth & develop
