25 arrested during illicit drug raid in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –
A combined security task force has arrested 25 suspected drug dealers and four alleged drug lords during a coordinated raid on drug enclaves in the Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The dawn operation, tagged Operation Sweep, was jointly carried out by operatives of the NDLEA, police, NSCDC, Amotekun Corps, forest guards, and the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC).

The development was supervised by the council chairman, Hon. Mohammed Olawale.
During the raid, large quantities of cannabis, tramadol, and other narcotic substances were seized from various drug flashpoints across the area.

Olawale said the exercise followed credible intelligence on the rising cases of drug trafficking and abuse, noting that it was part of efforts to reclaim communities from criminal elements.
“At least 25 drug peddlers were arrested, while 4 other drug lords were also nabbed by the security agencies. A woman who had been in the illicit business of selling drugs was also among them,” he said.

The council boss commended the synergy among the security agencies and lauded residents for their cooperation, describing the operation as a bold step to protect the youth and restore peace.
Olawale also thanked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his continued support, vowing that the local government would sustain its zero-tolerance stance against drug-related crimes and insecurity.
