A 25-year-old suspect, Abiola Tajudeen, has been arrested by a patrol team from the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Osun State Police Command for allegedly duping Point of Sale (PoS) operators across the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Yemisi Opalola, the suspect deceived multiple PoS operators by generating fake credit alerts during cash transactions.
Opalola explained that Tajudeen would approach PoS operators, collect cash, and promise to make a bank transfer in return. However, instead of completing a legitimate transaction, he would generate a fake credit alert, misleading the operators into believing that the agreed amount had been credited to their accounts.

The suspect reportedly duped his unsuspecting victims of amounts ranging from N5,000 to N70,000.
Opalola stated, “On August 5, 2024, at around 10:00 a.m., a patrol team from the Anti-Cultism Unit, while on township patrol, received information that someone had been going around duping PoS operators. The police team immediately swung into action and arrested the suspect.
“The suspect’s modus operandi involved collecting cash from PoS operators and then issuing fake credit alerts for the amounts collected. On several occasions, the suspect has defrauded his victims of sums ranging from N5,000 to N70,000.
“Nine victims have identified the suspect, who has confessed to the alleged crime. He will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.”
