2Baba lacks empathy, says Toke Makinwa

Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has explained her reasons for criticizing 2Baba following his public announcement of his separation and imminent divorce from his wife, Annie Idibia Macaulay.

Toke shared her thoughts on Instagram, stating that while she supports individuals leaving unhealthy marriages, 2Baba’s timing was inappropriate.

According to The Buzz host, there is more to the situation than the public sees, and 2Baba should not have shared the news online, especially given the intense scrutiny the couple is already facing.

She emphasized the importance of empathy and timing, suggesting that 2Baba’s actions may have contributed to the negative narrative surrounding the couple.

“Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that no longer serves them. By all means, leave if you want, but why bring this online at this very moment?

We know what’s going on behind closed doors. The world knows nothing—it’s already chaotic with opinions flying around. And when I say we will fight for her, I don’t mean the general public.

A handful of people know the truth, and time will tell. Timing is everything. Empathy is everything.

You constantly preach love; you cannot add to the narrative that’s already out here when you know what’s happening behind closed doors.”
