A 43-year-old man named Lateef Suleiman has been arrested in Sepeteri area of Oyo State for allegedly killing his elder brother after accusing him of attacking him in a dream.
Western Post confirmed the incident through a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
According to the police, the suspect, a resident of Alegunlode compound in Sepeteri, allegedly woke up convinced that his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, had shot him in his sleep.
Rather than dismiss the experience as a dream, Suleiman reportedly confronted the deceased while he was seated, picked up a heavy rock and struck him on the head before fleeing the scene.
The victim was then rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri, where he was confirmed dead by the attending doctor.
According to reliable sources, the suspect was eventually tracked down and arrested, while adding that he confessed to the act and is cooperating with investigators.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Femi Haruna, directed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet and comprehensive investigation, while assuring members of the public that justice would be pursued in accordance with the law.
