Twitter user slams The Academy over Will Smith’s violent behaviour at Oscars

A Twitter user, DSP The Undying has berated the organisers of the Oscars for the despicable behaviour of Will Smith on global television during the Oscars awards night.

Will Smith sauntered on the stage to deliver a hot slap on the comedian show host, Chris Rock for what the actor considered an improper joke on his wife, Jada Pinkett.

Immediately after the unsavoury incident, The Academy tweeted thus: “The Academy does not condone violence of any form. Tonight, we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”

In a riposte to The Academy, DSP The Undying tweeted back: “You watched and broadcast a live assault to millions of people around the world, then awarded a man who committed said assault immediately afterwards without removing him from the building or having him arrested for the crime. That is the definition of condoning the violence.”

Will Smith was decorated with the award of the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role as the father of Serena and Venus Williams, the long tennis superstars in the film, King Richard.
