587 police constables graduate in Kwara

A total of 587 newly recruited police constables have graduated from the Police Training School in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The constables, recruited in 2022, include officers from both Kwara and Kogi states.
Speaking at the passing-out ceremony, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, represented by the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Victor Olaiya, stated that the graduates are part of the 10,000 officers recruited nationwide to strengthen the police force.

He emphasized that the constables received training aligned with modern policing standards to enhance national security.
“This recruitment and training exercise underscores the federal government’s commitment to strengthening the police force by increasing manpower.

“These young officers are expected to contribute to nation-building and reduce crime to its barest minimum,” the IGP said.
The IGP urged the new constables to uphold integrity, discipline, and professionalism while avoiding corruption and practices that could tarnish the police’s image.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu, praised the quality of the training provided to the recruits. He encouraged the officers to contribute to national development through effective policing.

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), represented by Mrs. Ladi Akubo, noted that the recruitment process adhered to Section 153 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
She called on the constables to work diligently in addressing security challenges across the country.
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, represented by the Magaji Aare of Ilorin, Alhaji Aremu Zubairu, expressed appreciation to the police for bolstering their manpower. He advised the new officers to perform their duties in line with international best practices.
Hon. Jibril Onimisi-Abu, a member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency, also commended the successful training program and congratulated the new constables on their achievements.
