7 dead, 4 injured in fatal multiple vechicle crash on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Seven people died and four injured on Saturday in a fatal multiple vechicle crash at the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The crash involved three vehicles, including two tankers and a commercial transport bus.
A statement issued on Saturday afternoon by the Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command, Elizabeth Jayeola, said a total of 15 persons were involved in the incident- 13 males and 2 females.
Jayeola said “The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS2HQ Special Intervention Patrol team has just cleared a fatal multiple-vehicle crash that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near NIPCO Filling Station, Ibafo, today”.
She added that the accident was caused by speed violation and loss of concentration by the drivers.
“The FRSC Special Intervention Team in Ibafo Outpost Command received the crash report at 0705hrs and arrived at the scene by 0708hrs, recording an impressive 3-minute response time.
The team immediately evacuated the injured victims to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Centre Hospital, Ibafo, for immediate medical care while Corpses of the deceased were deposited at Idera Hospital Morgue, Sagamu.
“The vehicles involved were towed off the road to restore free flow of traffic while the Nigeria Police (MTD Ibafo) took custody of the vehicles and recovered items. FRSC SIP Team are still on ground managing traffic.
“FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, deeply regrets the loss of lives and urges motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits, avoid reckless driving, and maintain proper vehicle condition to avoid road tragedies”.
