99 schools battle for ₦2.5m in 2025 KW-IRS Tax Quiz Competition

A total of 99 schools across Kwara State registered for the 2025 edition of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) Tax Club Quiz Competition, with 88 eventually participating in the online Computer-Based Test (CBT) preliminary stage. After the first round, 40 schools advanced to the second round.
The competition, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, concluded its preliminary stages on Friday, June 27, 2025.
The preliminary rounds began on June 23, 2025, following a mock test organized by KW-IRS to help participating schools familiarize themselves with the online CBT format from their respective locations.

At the end of the two rounds, 12 schools qualified for the semi-final stage—four from each senatorial district. Notable qualifiers include Osi Central Secondary School, Ansar Ud Deen College, Government Secondary School Share, and Ansarul Islam Grammar School from Kwara South; Deeper Life High School, Saint Anthony’s Secondary School, Ebenezer High School, and Roemichs International School from Kwara Central; and Shepherd School Lafiagi, Government Secondary School Ilesha Baruba, Government Secondary School Lafiagi, and Unique College Kaiama from Kwara North.
Speaking on behalf of KW-IRS Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi, the Convener of the Tax Club Advocacy Committee (TACAC), Funmilola Oguntunbi, commended the smooth execution of the online stages, noting that the virtual model continues to demonstrate the agency’s commitment to innovation and digital transformation.

Officials from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, including Mrs. Roseline Ayansola, Mrs. Alaaya Idayat Olawale, and Mrs. Felicia Bamidele, praised the participating schools for embracing the challenge and applauded the top 12 for their excellent performance.
They noted that this year’s competition recorded significant success, with improved participation and adherence to the virtual model. The officials also congratulated all schools for their dedication and resilience.
The semi-final is scheduled to hold virtually on October 6, 2025, after which six schools will qualify for the grand finale. The final will be held physically in Ilorin on November 6, 2025, with a grand prize of ₦2.5 million up for grabs.
