Nigeria celebrated another continental triumph as the national U-16 girls’ basketball 3×3 team clinched the gold medal at the DAKAR EN JEUX 2024 Festival in Dakar, Senegal.
The Nigerian team, which had previously won silver in Accra, Ghana, at the All Africa Games, defeated the host nation Senegal 11-8 in the final to emerge champions.
Speaking after the match, Nigeria’s head of delegation and team coordinator, Victor Okoro, commended the players for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
“I’m very proud of this team. I am also happy that once again, they have made Nigeria proud on the international stage,” he said.
Okoro, a board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), added that the team’s recent accomplishments reflect the ongoing dedication of the NBBF, under the leadership of Engr. Musa Kida, to promote and develop basketball across all levels for Nigeria’s benefit.
