Osun 2026: Group purchases APC nomination form for ex-deputy governor, Alabi
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
A political organisation, the Osun Ajose Foundation, has purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship nomination form for former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Mr Benedict Alabi, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The form was presented to Alabi at his residence in Osogbo by the Director-General of the group, Mr Moruf Adekunle, who described the former deputy governor as the most qualified among aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.
Representing the chairman of the foundation, a member of the group, Opeyemi Badmus, described Alabi as a unifier and bridge-builder capable of advancing the state.
Badmus revealed that the group decided to purchase the form in recognition of Alabi’s record in government, particularly his engagement with youths during his tenure as deputy governor.
“He is a bridge-builder. He is someone who prioritises the future of the youth. We have seen him as a leader par excellence, and we believe that what we can do to support his ambition is to purchase the form for him. We know he is the only unifier among the aspirants, and we believe that when he becomes the governor by God’s grace, Osun will progress,” he said.
Responding, Alabi said his ambition to become governor was born out of a deep-seated and enduring commitment to the progress of Osun State and the welfare of residents.
He appreciated the foundation for the trust reposed in him, stating that he is the most qualified among the aspirants under the APC.
The former deputy governor noted that as the immediate past deputy governor of the state, he already possesses the experience to lead, adding that he is confident that he would emerge as the APC candidate even if the party decides to go for a consensus.
