The national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that the Osun State governorship primary election will hold today, December 2, despite earlier indications from the state chapter that the exercise was suspended.

In a letter dated December 1, 2025, and obtained by a Western Post correspondent in Osogbo, the national organising secretary, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan, stated that all congresses for the selection of ad-hoc and national delegates were successfully concluded on November 24 and 29.

The letter emphasised that the primary to elect the party’s flagbearer will proceed as scheduled. It further stated that the electoral committee for the primaries has been duly constituted and is authorised to oversee the election.

The letter reads in part:

“Sequel to the earlier notice of October 28, 2025, regarding the gubernatorial primaries, and the successful completion of congresses to elect ad-hoc and national delegates in Osun State on November 24 and 29, 2025, the party hereby reminds strategic stakeholders and the general public that the primaries to elect the gubernatorial candidate will hold.

“Furthermore, the electoral committee for the primaries has been constituted and will oversee the conduct of the primaries accordingly.

“Candidates cleared for the primaries are expected to act in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution and in the interest of law and order. Any act of indiscipline will be severely sanctioned.”
