AFCON: Uzoho first to arrive as Super Eagles camp opens in Cairo

Nigeria’s preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations officially began on Sunday as the Super Eagles opened their training camp in Cairo, Egypt, ahead of the tournament in Morocco.

The Nigerian delegation is lodged at the Renaissance Hotel in Cairo, where members of the technical crew and backroom staff had arrived earlier to finalise arrangements while awaiting the players.

Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho became the first player to report to camp, arriving at exactly 2:00 a.m. Egyptian time.

The returning shot-stopper was warmly received by the coaching staff and team officials, setting the tone for what promises to be an intense and focused build-up to the continental showpiece.

More players are expected to join the camp in the coming hours and days as the Super Eagles begin full preparations for AFCON 2025, with the coaching crew keen on fostering early cohesion and readiness ahead of the tournament in Morocco.
