Oyebamiji pledges total overhaul of Osun health sector if elected governor

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has promised a comprehensive overhaul of the State’s health sector if elected governor in the August 8, 2026 election.
Oyebamiji made the promise while lamenting the moribund state of health facilities across the State, shortly after the national leadership of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) inaugurated Dr Sekinah Bola-Oyebamiji as the newly elected President of the association in Osun State.
He said he was prepared to turn around the fortunes of Osun by raising the bar of critical sectors, particularly health, education, infrastructure, commerce, and agriculture, among others, when elected Governor.
According to him, Osun had remained stagnant due to negligence of critical sectors, especially the health sector, which requires urgent intervention for revival.
Oyebamiji said, “It is on record that the health sector has become moribund in the state. None of the categories of the health system—primary, secondary, or tertiary—is fully functional. Little or no effort has been made by the current administration to revamp our health system. Qualified doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals are grossly lacking and in short supply. As at today, our state has about 799 primary healthcare centres, 57 secondary health centres (general/specialist hospitals), and 3 tertiary health centres (teaching hospitals) yearning for attention. These are some of the things I will work on to ensure quality and functional healthcare service delivery across all categories.”
Oyebamiji congratulated his wife on her induction as the new President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, Osun State chapter, describing her as a consummate professional, a beacon of medical excellence, a pillar of the family, and an inspiration to many.
In her acceptance speech, Dr Sekinah Bola-Oyebamiji said her presidency would be defined by inclusiveness, effective health advocacy, and the delivery of physical projects to provide succour for women and children.
Dr Sekinah Bola-Oyebamiji is a dedicated medical professional who has devoted much of her practice to the selfless fight against women’s cancers, bringing hope, healing, and renewed strength to countless women within and beyond Nigeria. Her clinical skill, tireless dedication, and deep compassion continue to set a standard of excellence that inspires many.
