By Adejayan Gbenga –

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has called on Christians to celebrate Christmas with love, gratitude to God, goodwill toward their neighbors, and faith in divine guidance.

Oba Owoade, in a statement released by his spokesperson Bode Durojaiye on Wednesday, explained that this attitude could help heal relationships, improve governance, and foster national development.

“If we love with the spirit of Christmas in our hearts, governance would work, electoral reforms would be easier, and funds would be used for the benefit of all,” he said.

He highlighted that the love exemplified by Jesus Christ should inspire Nigerians to prioritise others, act with sincerity, and promote unity.

The monarch also noted that the current positive trends in governance and accountability under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu offer hope for a more transparent and responsible administration.

The Alaafin prayed for divine guidance for the president and Nigerians, urging them to uphold honesty and integrity in leadership and daily life.
