Ekiti court arraigns 18-year-old over alleged assault of minor

An 18-year-old man, Olapade Ifeoluwa, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over the alleged indecent assault of a seven-year-old girl in Ekiti State.

The Ekiti State Police Command brought the defendant to court following the incident, which was said to have occurred in Ilawe-Ekiti.

Prosecuting counsel, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the offence was allegedly committed on December 11, 2025, at about 8 a.m.

He added that the alleged act contravenes Section 19(5) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Adunni Olanipekun, appealed to the court to grant her client bail on liberal terms.

The presiding magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦50,000 with one surety in like amount.

The court subsequently adjourned the matter until February 12, 2026, for further hearing.
