The Our Community First Foundation (OCFF), a civil society organisation, has carried out an environmental sanitation exercise in the Alanamu community in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, as part of efforts to promote public health and environmental responsibility.

The exercise, held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, was conducted under the foundation’s Keep Our Environment Clean campaign and lasted about two hours. OCFF volunteers swept streets and evacuated heaps of refuse from strategic locations, including the Alanamu community, Alanamu Market and the neighbouring Akata community.

Speaking during the exercise, the Team Lead of OCFF, Dr Abdulkabeer Salihu Olarewaju, said the initiative was aimed at raising environmental consciousness and encouraging residents to take ownership of their surroundings. He noted that a clean environment is essential for preventing disease and improving overall quality of life.

Community leaders described the intervention as timely. Daudu Elegbejila, Alhaji Muhammed Baba Ilyas, who spoke on behalf of the community, commended OCFF for its commitment, stating that the clean-up had improved sanitation and contributed positively to public health in the area.

OCFF urged residents to sustain the culture of cleanliness and support community-driven initiatives, stressing that collective action remains key to building a healthier and safer environment across Kwara State.
