Kwara cautions health workers against data falsification ahead of immunisation exercise
The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Prof. Nusirat Elelu, has vehemently advised all health workers in the state to avoid falsifying data during the forthcoming immunisation exercise.
She gave the warning on Saturday at the opening ceremony of the ongoing five-day healthcare workers training for routine immunization in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
The training, which is the first of its kind, was created for routine immunization officers, local immunization officers, and monitoring and evaluation officers from all 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
Prof. Nusirat Elelu emphasized the importance of the training while charging the officers to remain diligent, accountable, and committed to improving their performance.
In addition, she encouraged participants to transfer the knowledge gained from the training to other officers at their respective duty posts.
Elelu further warned against hoarding knowledge, while appealing to them to promote collective growth and improved service delivery.
“The participants play critical roles in the immunization value chain and therefore must be continuously trained and retrained to enhance their skills and effectiveness. The training is to ensure correct and accurate data at all times. Data falsification could undermine the effectiveness of immunization interventions and negatively impact health outcomes,” she said.
The state government also disclosed that it is set to immunize 1.8 million children against measles, rubella, and polio in an integrated campaign.
