The Oyo State Government, under the leadership of Mr Seyi Makinde, has taken a significant step to strengthen its climate policies by signing an agreement with Noblesse Green Energy Limited, a firm that specialises in sustainable energy and environmental solutions.
The contract was signed on Thursday in Ibadan by Hon. Ademola Aderinto, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, and Mr Oluwasegun Ademuwagun, the Managing Director of Noblesse Green Energy Limited.
Reacting to the development, Hon. Aderinto described the policy as more than a document, calling it a roadmap for protecting the state’s ecosystem. Under the contract, he disclosed that Noblesse Green Energy Limited will develop and establish Oyo State’s climate plans and policies, conduct climate assessments, gather data, engage stakeholders, and prepare strategic policies aligned with national and international climate frameworks.
He further added that the company will prepare climate risk assessments, mitigation and adaptation strategies, and implementation frameworks.
In his remarks, Mr Ademuwagun expressed his company’s commitment to delivering a world-class policy framework that meets Oyo State’s environmental goals. He promised that Noblesse Green Energy Limited will prepare practical plans for climate risk mitigation, adaptation, and implementation to ensure sustainable results.
In addition, Hon. Aderinto revealed that the state is set to launch a waste-to-wealth agenda in line with circular economy principles, a feat he said indicates the state’s commitment to boosting its economy in a safe and clean manner.
He further highlighted the government’s strategic reforms to strengthen environmental policies and emphasised the importance of international collaboration for technology transfer, capacity building, and innovative solutions in waste management.
