JUST IN: Presidency dismisses viral video alleging plot to poison President Tinubu

The Presidency has dismissed as false a viral report alleging that a member of the kitchen staff at the State House, Abuja, was arrested over a purported plot to poison President Bola Tinubu.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, debunked the claim on Sunday in a post on his X account, describing the report as fake news.

“No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video,” Onanuga wrote.

He said this in reaction to a recent video circulating online which alleged that an unnamed chef at the Presidential Villa had been apprehended in connection with an alleged poisoning plot.

Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Tope Ajayi, dismissed the report when contacted. In a brief response to an enquiry by The Nation, Ajayi described the claim as “fake.”

The clarification followed widespread circulation of the unverified report on some online platforms. The publication cited no credible source or verifiable details but gained traction on social media, sparking speculation among members of the public.
