Security agencies in Ondo State have intensified operations against criminal elements, launching a coordinated bush-combing exercise in Akure North Local Government Area, and apprehending two suspects in the process.
The operation, conducted on Monday, involved personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Army.
Operatives reportedly moved through thick forests spanning areas behind HOB Estate to Ilado, Ilu-Abo and Ala-Dada, using a combination of foot patrols, motorcycles and vehicles.
During the exercise, suspected hideouts linked to kidnappers and other criminals were discovered and destroyed, while two suspects were apprehended.
The Commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, said the mission formed part of ongoing efforts to dislodge criminals from forested areas across the state.
He explained that the local knowledge of Amotekun operatives aided other security agencies in identifying flashpoints and navigating difficult terrain.
Adeleye added that the team trekked for several hours during the operation, stressing that there would be no hiding place for criminal elements in the state.
Reacting to the development, residents commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for strengthening security, noting that farmers now feel safer returning to their farmlands.
