Political groups within the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State have called on stakeholders to embrace peace and avoid violence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The call was made by the Asa Progressive Movement during an endorsement programme held on Thursday in Afon, the headquarters of Asa Local Government Area.

The group also advocated for issue-based campaigns, urging political actors to focus on development-driven discussions rather than divisive rhetoric.

In a communiqué signed by the coordinator, Daud Babatunde, and secretary, Yusuf Akorede, the movement reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political engagement.

“We are committed to a peaceful, issue-based campaign and urge all political actors to shun violence, hate speech, and any conduct capable of heating up the polity,” the group stated.

Furthermore, the movement called on citizens across party lines to unite for the progress of the state, stressing that the 2027 elections should prioritise the future of younger generations.

“We call on all well-meaning sons and daughters of Kwara State, regardless of party affiliation, to join this movement for the restoration and advancement of our dear state,” the communiqué added.

Meanwhile, the group endorsed Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa for governor and backed the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing Bolarinwa’s experience and leadership record as key factors behind its decision.
