Olukoyede tasks NSC leadership on regulatory compliance in sports administration

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has urged the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, to ensure strict regulatory compliance in the interest of sports development in Nigeria.
Olukoyede made the call in Abuja on Friday when Dikko led the NSC management team on a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters.
He stressed the importance of collaboration between both institutions, warning that preventive measures were necessary to avoid future investigations into financial infractions within the sports sector.
According to him, the EFCC’s Fraud Risk Assessment and Control (FRAC) department would work with the NSC to develop a compliance framework covering procurement, contract awards and fund management.
He explained that the initiative was aimed at identifying and addressing potential risks before they result in violations of financial regulations.
Olukoyede also expressed concern over past mismanagement of grants and subventions received from international sporting bodies, urging the NSC to avoid a repeat of such practices.
He noted that the EFCC had been monitoring reforms within the NSC and commended efforts by the current leadership to reposition sports administration in the country.
In his remarks, NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko said the collaboration was aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability in the sector. “We want to clean the system for the first time. We are piloting an independent integrity board that is working to ensure that everything is done properly,” he said.
