Obi visits Isaac Fayose, condemns online attacks over Seyi Tinubu meeting

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, on Saturday visited businessman and supporter Isaac Fayose at his residence in Abuja, following the controversy surrounding Fayose’s recent meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The visit came days after Fayose was seen in a viral video alongside Seyi Tinubu and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, during a gathering in the Federal Capital Territory where prayers were offered for President Tinubu, themselves and the nation.
The meeting triggered criticism from some supporters of the NDC presidential candidate, with allegations that Fayose had been financially influenced.
Fayose, however, rejected the claims in a separate viral video, defending his loyalty to Obi and recalling the support he had given the former Anambra State governor’s presidential ambition since 2023.
Less than 24 hours after Fayose’s response, Obi paid him a visit, with a video shared on Fayose’s Instagram page showing the two engaged in a friendly conversation.
Addressing the controversy, Obi distanced his supporters from the online attacks, saying many of those insulting Fayose were not members of his movement.
“Half of the people that abused you don’t follow us. What they do is hire people to call others all sorts of names,” Obi said.
