FG lists six requirements for laptop, smartphone loan scheme

The Federal Government has opened applications for its Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, offering eligible Nigerians access to smartphones, laptops and tablets through a consumer credit scheme.
The initiative, being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, is aimed at expanding digital access and encouraging the adoption of locally assembled devices.
To qualify for the scheme, applicants must provide their state of residence by selecting any of Nigeria’s 36 states or the Federal Capital Territory. The information will be used for profiling and programme coordination.
Applicants are also required to state their employment status, including whether they are salary earners, freelancers, self-employed persons, business owners, students, job seekers or members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). They may also provide their monthly income, although this is optional.
Another key requirement is enrolment in an eligible digital skills programme. The current pilot phase targets participants in the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, while other recognised platforms include Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub.
Applicants must also select the device they intend to obtain — a smartphone, laptop or tablet — and state its intended use. Approved purposes include learning, professional certification, remote work, freelancing, software development, business expansion and content creation.
As part of the application process, applicants must certify that the information they provide is accurate and authorise CREDICORP and its partners to verify their details before approval.
They are also required to indicate how they learnt about the C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme, with options including 3MTT, social media, friends or family, school, employer, Google search or other sources.
