The Ondo State House of Assembly has screened Mrs. Taibat Oloruntoba, a commissioner-designate nominated by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Oloruntoba’s nomination was forwarded to the assembly on August 20 for confirmation following the governor’s decision to appoint her to the State Executive Council.
During the screening, the Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, urged Oloruntoba to view the prospective appointment as an opportunity to serve the people rather than as a privilege.
Oladiji charged her to demonstrate integrity, diligence, commitment and loyalty if confirmed, stressing that the interest of Ondo State must remain paramount in the discharge of her official responsibilities.
He further urged her to exercise sound judgment and discipline, noting that public office requires dedication, accountability and a strong sense of responsibility.
Responding, Oloruntoba thanked the lawmakers for the opportunity to appear before them and pledged to support the government in delivering on its responsibilities to the people.
She described the screening as thorough, saying the lawmakers scrutinised her credentials and questioned her on how she could contribute to the development of the state.
Meanwhile, the assembly also screened Dr. Mann Alli as chairman of the Ondo State Civil Service Commission and Mr. Michael Oshodi as a member of the commission.
