Staff members at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, have dismissed reports that the state government has released funds to address their outstanding demands, saying the strike will continue.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), AAUA branch, said the government had yet to release funds for the implementation of the 2025 agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU or pay arrears owed its members since January 2026.
The union stated this in a statement signed by its branch chairperson, Boluwaji Oshodi, following reports and social media posts claiming that subvention had been released to the university.
Oshodi urged members to disregard the reports, saying they were aimed at creating the impression that the union’s demands had been addressed when, according to him, no funds had been released to resolve the issues.
“The union is aware that the Ondo State Government has not released funds to address our demands,” Oshodi said.
He said the branch would adhere to the resolution reached by its congress on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, to sustain the strike until the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement was fully implemented and the outstanding arrears paid.
Oshodi urged members to remain united and committed to the struggle, while cautioning them against actions or situations that could weaken the union’s collective position.
He also called for vigilance among members, assuring them that the branch leadership would continue to press for the resolution of their demands.
