President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has congratulated former Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Oloye Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, on his formal installation as the Balogun of Oyo by the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I.
The installation takes place today, marking Adeduntan’s formal assumption of the traditional title in the historic Oyo Kingdom.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, Tinubu recalled Adeduntan’s distinguished career in banking and finance, particularly his tenure as Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank.
The president said Adeduntan played a significant role in transforming one of Nigeria’s oldest and most important financial institutions during his time as its chief executive.
Tinubu also acknowledged Adeduntan’s continuing contributions to national development through enterprise, education and philanthropy. He noted his service as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.
The president further highlighted the work of the Adesola Adeduntan Foundation, which has invested in modern primary healthcare centres serving communities in Oyo State, as well as Adeduntan’s contributions to Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
Tinubu urged the newly installed Balogun of Oyo to bring the same discipline, strategic foresight and commitment to excellence that characterised his professional and public life to his new traditional responsibilities, stressing that the installation was both an honour and a call to greater service.
The president also expressed confidence that Adeduntan would continue to deploy his experience, influence and resources towards promoting peace, opportunity, development and the preservation of Oyo’s rich cultural heritage, while contributing meaningfully to the growth and unity of the kingdom.
