Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has assured that the state’s new judiciary complex will be completed by December, expressing confidence that the facility will become one of the most impressive judicial buildings in Nigeria.

The governor gave the assurance on Monday during activities marking the commencement of the 2026/2027 legal year of the Ondo State Judiciary in Akure.

He apologised for the delay in completing the complex but said the project remained within its scheduled completion period.

Aiyedatiwa also pledged continued support for judicial independence, improved welfare for judicial officers and better court infrastructure, stressing that access to justice should not be determined by wealth or social status.

He said the poor and vulnerable must be able to seek redress without intimidation, adding that nobody should be above the law.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the separation of powers, describing the executive, legislature and judiciary as complementary institutions with distinct responsibilities.

He urged judicial officers to uphold integrity, fairness and accountability in the discharge of their duties.

Meanwhile, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo (SAN), unveiled a 10-year justice sector development plan covering 2026 to 2036, with Ondo as the pilot state. The 20-pillar initiative is designed to address judicial infrastructure, digital justice, case backlogs, legal aid, welfare of legal professionals and legislative reforms.
