Why I wrote a Hausa book on Tinubu? — by Mukhtar Sagir Dambatta

I spent more than one and a half years researching and writing a Hausa book on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, documenting his political journey, leadership, projects and achievements across Nigeria’s 19 Northern states, as well as political appointments given to people from the region.

My decision to write the book in Hausa was deliberate. Hausa is widely spoken across Northern Nigeria, and I want ordinary people, especially students, women and young people, to learn about the projects and achievements of President Tinubu that many people may not know about.

At a time when the President faces criticism from different quarters, I believe many Nigerians, particularly in the North, need access to information about the projects his administration has executed, the initiatives it has introduced and the opportunities it has provided to people from the region.

I wrote the book to bring these achievements to public attention and help close the information gap. Some government projects and appointments may not receive enough public attention, even when they have a direct impact on communities and people. Through this book, I want to make such information available in a language that millions of people across Northern Nigeria can easily understand.

I also believe that students and women are important groups in the electoral process. Writing in Hausa provides an opportunity to reach more people, particularly those who may find it easier to understand political information in their native language.

The book is therefore an effort to document and publicise the positive contributions of President Tinubu’s administration to Northern Nigeria. My aim is to ensure that people are aware of these projects, initiatives and appointments rather than forming opinions without knowing the full extent of the government’s activities in the region.

For me, this is more than writing a book. It is about documenting the administration’s record, preserving important information and bringing its achievements closer to the people, especially Hausa-speaking communities.

I wrote the book because I believe that people cannot appreciate projects and achievements they do not know about. My goal is to make these records accessible to Northern Nigerians in Hausa so that more people can learn about what the Tinubu administration has done in their region.
