Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has forwarded the names of two commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and approval.
The nominees were announced in a letter from the governor to the Speaker, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, which was read during Tuesday’s plenary session.
The nominees are Jimoh Ali Yusuf, former deputy whip of the ninth Assembly, and AbdulAfeez Abolore, a former commissioner for agriculture. Both are from Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state.
Following the reading of the letter, the speaker directed the nominees to submit their credentials to the clerk of the assembly before the close of work on Wednesday.
He also announced that the screening exercise would take place on Thursday, although the details of the exercise were not provided in the letter as presented to the house.
Abolore previously resigned as commissioner for agriculture to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives. However, he failed to secure the ticket to contest the election.
Similarly, Yusuf contested in the last election but lost to Arinola Fatima Lawal, the daughter of a former governor.
Their nominations, if approved by the house, would pave the way for their appointment as commissioners in the AbdulRazaq administration.
