Laide Bakare rejects Eniola Badmus’ apology, calls it fake
Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has rejected an apology from her colleague, Eniola Badmus, over her reaction to Bakare’s name during a recent interview, describing it as “fake”.
Bakare dismissed the apology in a two-word post on Instagram on Tuesday, hours after Badmus expressed regret over her conduct during the interview.
The controversy began after a video from an interview hosted by Isbae U circulated online, showing Badmus reacting with a facial expression and appearing to shrug when Bakare was mentioned among the host’s favourite actresses.
Bakare subsequently took to Instagram to accuse Badmus of repeatedly damaging her reputation in public, warning that she would no longer tolerate the alleged behaviour.
“Nuisance ni lady yi sha! Must you always damage my character publicly? Several times I have warned you to stop, but since you have decided to bring me down at all costs, you will surely hear from me,” she wrote.
The actress also accused Badmus of ingratitude, claiming she had played a role in helping her career.
“See your facial expressions at the mention of your biggest benefactor’s name? Omo ale. That helped you to grow in life. Honestly, you are indeed an ingrate, and I won’t let this slide,” Bakare added.
In response to the backlash, Badmus acknowledged that her reaction during the interview might have appeared dismissive and apologised to her colleague.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
