Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has visited the family of the late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, to offer his condolences and pay tribute to the elder statesman, who died at the age of 100.

During the visit to the deceased’s residence, Aiyedatiwa described Fasoranti as a humble, wise and kind leader whose contributions to governance remained significant until his death.

The governor said he was shocked by the news of the centenarian’s passing, noting that Fasoranti continued to influence government decisions despite his advanced age.

“Even at that age, Baba was still influencing decisions of government. That is to tell you that he was still mentally sound,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa also described the late elder statesman as an accomplished educationist whose influence spanned generations. He noted that many people he mentored had risen to prominence in different parts of the world.

He urged the family and Nigerians to uphold the values of hard work, humility and service that defined Fasoranti’s life, adding that his achievements and contributions deserved to be celebrated.

Responding, the Secretary to the Ondo State Government and son of the deceased, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, thanked the governor for the visit. He said the family was determined to celebrate their father’s life and preserve his enduring legacy.

“Baba has left us a big pair of shoes to step into, but we can only thank God for the legacy of firmness, resilience, hard work and love that he left us with,” Taiwo said, while appealing to Nigerians to pray for the family.
